It is common for people in Western Society to have irregular bowel habits.  This is a major issue for more than one reason. People rationalize and make statements e.g. “It is normal for him/her to only have a bowel movement once a week or every three days, etc.” In fact there is nothing normal about it. Our body is designed to actually eliminate every time we eat. The process of peristalsis is stimulated every time food enters the stomach. Anyone with pets can verify that is what they observe.

So why does it happen that people become okay with irregular habits. If you picture a sewage system in your home, with any back up the sewage returns to the toilet after you flush. Your clear intention was for your waste to leave your home through the plumbing system.

The same happens with your elimination. When the fecal matter does not leave the body, it is recycled through the systems of our body and the result is nausea – sometimes to point of vomiting, heavy head – sometimes a severe headache, low energy, fuzzy mind, etc. These are unwelcome symptoms but unfortunately people do not recognize the cause. Instead they put more chemicals into their bodies to deal with the constipation.

Another common issue is the tendency to ignore the body’s signal that the bladder is full or your bowels are ready to empty. Often the determination is made to delay until it is convenient regarding a better or more convenient location or until you are finished with some project.

When this is a frequent habit, the body accepts it is no use to give you a signal. The outcome sooner or later is constipation or incontinence.
